Singapore, 30th September, 2020 – International cross-border trade platform, #dltledgers, has hired Shine Xavier as its new Global VP of Engineering and Technology. Shine, who possesses over 22 years of experience in technology platforms, is a recognised leader in “exponential technologies”, including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), robotic process automation (RPA), and blockchain. Having led numerous Fortune 500 digital transformation programmes, Shine joins #dltledgers to lead the next phase of development of its proprietary blockchain platform. He will commence his new role with #dltledgers this month, reporting to CEO, Samir Neji.

Shine takes the reins of #dltledgers’ global engineering team and will lead development across the company’s operations in Singapore, India, and MENA. First on the agenda is a major platform upgrade, with new functionality including AI-powered automation and data validation, an upgraded user journey, and a re-engineered, multi-bank “SmartFIN” module. This coincides with the launch of the company’s new SME financing program, which is targeting financial inclusion by helping to plug the world’s widening trade finance gap. On the back of agreements with several global technology companies, Shine will also lead #dltledgers’ collaborative partnerships.

#dltledgers’ mission is to increase transparency within global trade, reduce the risk for financiers and counterparties, and deliver increased levels of liquidity for the cross-border trade community. In light of recent defaults and fraud, many financer providers have tightened lending practices, making it increasingly difficult for businesses to secure trade finance funding. #dltledgers is committing its resources to increase authenticity and transparency within trade, which will help traders to keep their products moving around the globe. At a time when supply chains are already weakened, the team is focused on keeping essential materials, commodities, and food products moving to the locations that need them most. This hire marks #dltledgers’ continuous commitment to investing in world-class engineering, and to create the next wave of AI-powered trade and supply chain technology.

Speaking on his appointment, Shine commented: “I am thrilled and humbled by the opportunity to lead engineering at one of the world’s leading blockchain platforms. I pride myself on being a hardcore technologist, who can leverage technology for social enablement and the advancement of humanity. With #dltledgers I truly believe this is possible. I will also have a chance to combine my strengths in AI and blockchain, and to transform a set of processes that have hitherto been largely untouched by technology. I am very excited to get started.”

Since its inception three years ago, #dltledgers has digitised over SGD 3 billion-worth of cross-border trades, powering trade flows spanning 28 countries on four continents. On the back of significant growth in 2019/20, including the opening of several regional offices, the company is in the midst of its latest funding round, which will support further expansion in 2021.
